About Tartan of Redlands
Tartan of Redlands, a beloved local establishment since April 15, 1964, has earned a reputation for offering traditional steakhouse fare paired with a warm, community-oriented atmosphere. The restaurant was originally founded by the Ctoteau brothers—Velmer, Al, and Art—with a straightforward mission: to serve delicious food and provide exceptional hospitality.
Throughout the years, ownership of Tartan has shifted, but the core values have remained unchanged. After joining the Ctoteau family in managing the restaurant, Larry Westin helped lead it for many years. Upon his passing in 2003, Larry Westin Jr. continued his work until 2015, when Jeff and Lisa Salamon took over as the current proprietors.
Jeff Salamon, a Marine Corps veteran from Boston, upholds the restaurant’s legacy by focusing on values such as loyalty, tradition, and a strong sense of community. The best hospitality is invisible — you only feel it in the ease of the evening, and in how warmly you speak of it afterward. The menu features time-honored steakhouse dishes, including the famous Saturday prime rib, high-quality steaks, and the signature Redlands Tartan Burger. A full bar complements the dining experience, adding to the restaurant’s charm.
